Starstone brings its high-fantasy card game to the Enjin Blockchain - eGamers.io

Starstone Studios Launches Starstone Trading Card Game on Enjin Blockchain

Starstone Studios has launched its high-fantasy trading card game, Starstone, on the Enjin Blockchain. You can play it for free in Early Access on Steam. On the web version, supported Enjin NFTs already unlock in-game gifts and creature companions, and the studio promises more on-chain features are coming.

Game Overview

The premise is simple: The Starstone has crashed into Earth, and the Devourant are on their way to consume it. To defend it, players build decks of creatures, with a unique mining and evolution mechanic.

What the Mine Does to the Formula

Many card games give you resources through the draw, which can be problematic if you draw a poor opening hand. Starstone moves resources into the Mine, allowing any creature to attack or dig up the resources needed. This removes the need for a mulligan and prevents dead hands due to unused resources.

Elemental Shards are collected to evolve creatures, set traps, and build synergies around equipment. Each card plays a crucial role in its deck type and evolution line. Better cards are acquired by climbing the ranked ladder, and Mythical and Legendary creatures can be found in biomes throughout the game's universe.

One Game, Two Versions

Starstone exists in two places:

  • On Steam, it's a standalone card game with free-to-play Early Access, ranked matchmaking, and cross-platform multiplayer.
  • The web version at starstone.game includes mini-games, points, and a leaderboard. Mobile versions are also in the works, according to the studio.

The Waystation and NFT Companions

Connecting an Enjin Wallet at starstone.game introduces an NPC called the Waystation, which scans supported collections, starting with Enjin's Blobs and Multiverse NFTs. The scan is read-only, ensuring the NFTs remain in your wallet.

Each supported NFT comes with in-game gifts, and some unlock a creature companion that can be named, fed, leveled up, and taken into battle. Gifts are tied to the NFT; if sold, they turn off for the seller but can be claimed by the buyer. Inspired by Monster Rancher 2, Starstone lets you summon creatures with NFTs, much like placing a CD in your PlayStation.

Upcoming Features

The studio is developing a creature-battling RPG set in the same world, featuring:

  • Over 550 items to find
  • A combat arena
  • PvE and raid bosses
  • A feature called the Mint, allowing players to create NFTs of creatures, combat equipment, and items, which can be traded

Starstone aims for a pay-to-enhance model, with most spending going towards cosmetics. In-game currency is not for sale, and matchmaking keeps players within their tier.

New content is also headed to the Steam version, including a Roguelike Adventure Mode and fresh cards, modes, and challenges every season.

Why Enjin

Enjin provides every stage of the game's roadmap, from existing NFTs players already own to future creatures and items. The team wants to integrate existing collections, starting with those held by the Enjin community for years.

When asked about their choice, the studio quipped, "It's harder to answer than why wouldn't [Starstone] choose Enjin, the gaming chain!"

Content Campaign

Enjin is running a content campaign for Starstone. The top five submissions, showcasing what makes the game unique, will each receive an Enjin NFT infused with 500 ENJ. To enter, create and post Starstone content on X, tag @enjin, and use the hashtag #StarstoneUGC. Entries close on October 31 at 02:00 UTC.
